Multi track routing with Maschine. Hot swapping kits with Audiomodder

A lot of people ask me if theres an efficient way of having seperate tracks for each Maschine sound.

Using an external instrument effect on a bunch of different tracks can do this, and with the Audiomodder kits, all the routing is already setup in Maschine so you can hot swap out any kit.

Korg Presets now more tightly integrated with Push!

Now you can browse these VSTs from Korg with Push

Browse over 3,300 Korg VST Presets with parameters mapped.

Ableton Push VST Bridge for KORG is a library of converted VST presets. It allows owners of KORG instruments to utilise presets through Push's browser. Each preset has dials pre-configured so your ready for step automation in Live 9.1 64 Bit when you load any preset from Push.

It includes the presets for the following Korg VSTs:

MS-20

Polysix

LegacyCell

M1

Wavestation

Monopoly

This update took a while but we are glad its here.  I had to figure out some alternate tricks to retrieve all the names of the VST presets so that you can browse them by name on Push.

Now you can use Maschine 2.0 kits from Ableton Push! With the expansions too.

The factory Maschine 2.0 VST presets are a free update for all Audiomodder VST Bridge users.  It blurs the line between Maschine vs Push.

The Maschine expansions I have so far covered are purchased separately in packs but are discounted for existing bridge users here.  The Maschine factory library drum racks are included for free with Audiomodder Bridge.

This extensive Ableton preset library unifies all of Maschine 2.0's incredible sound set and Push's sequencing, clip editing, and parameter automation - They are a match made in sonic heaven.

A great deal of effort and attention to detail has gone into this free update for VST Bridge users.

Maschine 2.0 and the Audiomodder VST Bridge gives Push users immediate parameter modulation and 16 channel routing for FX from Push with any kit!  Every kit is loaded up as an Ableton drum rack.

They are setup with 16 channel routing for Push to throw on individual effects for each sound and manipulate per step automation.  128 parameters are pre mapped for you in each Maschine 2.0 kit - 8 parameters for each sound pre configured for Ableton clip automation.

M4L users get an extra benefit - the MacroX device we created for streamlining this purpose.

After hitting a drum pad or selecting a sound on Push, the 8 Push encoders can immediately access the Maschine 2.0 parameters.

Normally, Ableton macros can't give you this ability because each macro has to point to something within that chain. MacroX lets the macros all point back to the single VST instance.  For those curious as to how it works, instead of you having to dive through 128 parameters to modulate a sound on the VST device, Macro X looks at a "dummy" macro device in each chain.  These 8 macros are automatically observed by MacroX and sent through to modulate the actual VST parameter for that sound.

MacroX is seamless once dropped into the rack and optimized to not hit the CPU.

Free Maschine 2.0 Bridge download for Audiomodder VST Bridge users!

This tool saves a lot of time- you can jump right in and get the best of both worlds. Maschine 2.0 expansions are available now as an add-on.

Full Windows 7 support: Komplete 9 Ultimate, Maschine, Reaktor, Kontakt, Monark, Spark, Razor, Prism, Massive, FM8, Absynth, and Guitar Rig

UPDATE: Windows users now have full compatibility with Komplete 9 Ultimate Presets and Push.  They can also use UAD and Soundtoys.

Some extra news for people wanting to browse Native Instruments presets on Push using windows.

To install it, the only library of reasonable size that must be copied/moved is the Battery 4 Factory library (about 3GB?) which must reside on your C:\Users\Shared drive.  Monark, Razor, Prism, and Spark must also be copied here but are small enough to not worry about.  All the other Reaktor and Kontakt presets are relative to their original installed locations so that is great news! The other VST's are fine.

Ableton VST Bridge and Upcoming Live 9.1. Browse Maschine kits on Push with routed Live Chains for split effects! Improved Push presets for Massive automation.

This article shows that step automation of devices will be possible with Live 9.1.  Step automation of Push VST Bridge presets would be an exciting development with our pre-configured knobs in the included presets.  Currently supported for NI Maschine, NI Komplete VST's, and a collection of Soundtoys and UAD Effects!

Today we release a big update for Maschine users. Every kit is made available as an Ableton preset with individual channel routing configured in Live drum racks.

This doesn't just benefit users of Push, but Maschine users in general- you have an 16 individual audio chains ready for FX manipulation and automation. It's all pre-configured for every kit as an Ableton preset, so you get to sequence all your beats in Live clips.  You can load any of these presets straight from the Live or Push browser.

We also updated the Massive presets to have more dials pre configured - 8 NI macros, Filters, ADSR, Oscillator volume, WT position, and Effects.

Organize the Ableton Push Browser to make Places more accessible.

Theres a bunch of instrument presets that stop us from getting to "Places" quickly on Push's browser, and if your using places to organize your most popular presets (Push VST Preset Bridge Users) this may not be what you want.  Here's a work around.

Navigate to your Live.app in Applications and right click to reveal "show package contents"

Dive into this path-

Move the folder called "Devices" to another location.  I keep mine in -

Now in Ableton, drag that "Devices" folder to Places.  Now you can still access all those presets included in the core library by going to Places/Devices on Push, or doing the same in Ableton.  Note that this will remove them from under the "Categories" tab in ableton - Instruments, Audio Effects, and Midi Effects.  Instead they are one extra click away in Places.  A small Inconvenience for when you aren't using push, but the advantage is Push should have places always visible on the display form now on, only the 4th entry down.

I find this speeds up my workflow a lot.

Use Ableton Push with Maschine Kits and Samples for Sequencing in Drum Racks.

The Audiomodder VST bridge has done more than just bring in VST preset's into the browser.  It lets you have much tighter integration when sequencing with instruments like Maschine.

You have the choice of loading up any Maschine kit as a VST from Push's browser, straight into a drum rack receiving on all channels - all ready to be sequenced with Push.

Furthermore, each Maschine kit's samples can also be loaded up into a drum rack without the VST.  In this way we are ready for adding effects onto any sample chain straight from Push.

This lets you get the best of both worlds - you can still use Maschine for its own internal effects on its stunning kits and sample library, while sequencing with a Drum Rack on Push.  Or you get the ability to use Live's effects racks on each of Maschine's kits and samples!

You must own Maschine and its sample library to take advantage of this feature.  The Push VST Bridge only references this data within its presets for its utilization.

How to Layer Instruments in Push

Did you know its possible to layer multiple instruments in push on a single track?

In this video I demonstrate by creating an empty rack with 8 slots in it and saving it as an instrument rack, you have a template for layering you can load up at any time.  Ableton Push lets you select any one of those 8 chains - you can then browse to add any preset from your user library into those chains.

With the Push VST Bridge we can load this template first, and then the VST presets (currently Native Instruments) so that any synth can be layered with any other preset. We have configured the significant parameters on most VST's ready for automation.

Browsing VST Presets on Ableton Push

Since the beginning of 2013 a lot has changed in the abilities of Ableton Push to customize browsing and interfacing with VST plugins.  Here's is a summary of what developed with The Push VST Bridge to make Native Instruments VST presets available on the Push browser.

Julien Bayle's Remote Scripts made it possible to add our own categories.  DJ Limbs Tutorial drew on this and showed a method for customising categories for Maschine.  A great workflow for keeping separate banks and subcategories when sample browsing in drum racks in push.

I then shared how to batch preset libraries into the Ableton Live Library for browsing VST Presets.

I managed to convert all Maschine kit presets into Ableton Drum Racks allowing us to route effects and have more control, and also kept the Maschine kits as a VST option to maintain the original effects and levels.  I then set out to convert the entire NI Komplete Library.

Applying this workflow to Native Instruments Komplete and later Soundtoys was a long process, and from there I decided it was worth packaging up my work to save others the effort.  I figured funding I could receive from the project would be great to help expand this library.

Ableton Push and VST Presets could now play together in the browser with the AudioModder Push VST bridge!

As of Live 9.0.5 no hacking of Live's browsing capability was required because of the added functionality to "places".  Now Push could see all the subfolders in places giving a display for each level of the folder structure!  This is excellent because it means we don't have to hack the browser to create custom categories for synths.  We can just use folders to do it.

Here is a list of what we've got planned for the future based on the success of the AudioModder VST bridge for Ableton Push.

-Add Korg and Arturia VST presets

-Add all Maschine Expansions
